Objective(s) The purpose of the Ministerial Conference was to enhance co-ordination between the countries in the Western Balkan Region in matters of social security and health care insurance, both at political and a practical level.

Output/Results During the conference, a political declaration of intent (The Zagreb Declaration) was signed by the the Ministers responsible for social security in the Western Balkan Region. The representative of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia signed the Declaration by means of a letter since their authorities could not accept to sign the Declaration under the denomination FYROM. This declaration expresses the regional need for further institutional, legislative and administrative reforms in the social policy field, as well as the will of the participating countries to enhance their co-ordination and co-operation in social security and health care insurance matters and to rapidly conform with European legal standards and requirements regarding this issue.
