Activity Synopsis (ID# 17040) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) The objective of the seminar was to reinforce the pool of national trainers and to disseminate knowledge on relevant standards with a view to developing the skills of the prison management and operational staff.

Output/Results The objective of the seminar was to reinforce the pool of national trainers and to disseminate knowledge on relevant standards with a view to developing the skills of the prison management staff.
In the course of the training session, conducted in an interactive mode and with progressive involvement of the trainees, participants were familiarised with the ECHR and its case-law, the CPT standards and procedure and the EPR.

The trainees, who will act as national trainers for their peers throughout the country, also discussed with international experts and the CoE Secretariat the training strategies for Serbia and specific course content/curriculum for prison operational staff.
Since the overall setting of the seminar focused on an interactive mode, case study and role play were also part of the seminar’s programme.
Conclusions/Follow Up As a follow-up to the seminar, the participants passed a standard test to qualify as national trainers. Materials available in local language were distributed in sufficient numbers to the trainees. They will proceed to train their peers in regions through a series of cascade seminars.
Participants The seminar targeted 20 participants from Serbia trained by national trainers who were previously trained on European human rights standards within the Project.
