Activity Synopsis (ID# 17074) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) The objective of the seminar was to disseminate knowledge on relevant European standards with a view to developing the skills of the prison management and operational staff and in the process to reinforce the performance of the pool of national trainers trained under the Project.
Output/Results The expected advantages of the cascade seminars were confirmed in the training sessions held. The pilot cascade seminars avoid language barriers and include a colleague-to-colleague approach. In the course of the training session, a similar interactive mode as in the ToT was used, participants were familiarised with the ECHR and its case-law, and the CPT standards and the working methods of the CPT when carrying out country visits.
Conclusions/Follow Up The local trainers trained should maintain the skills acquired over the past year through updates, such as annual refresher training by the Council of Europe.
Participants The seminar targeted 20 participants from Serbia trained by national trainers who were previously trained on European human rights standards within the Project.
