Activity Synopsis (ID# 17085) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) The launching Conference aimed at presenting the overall and specific objectives of the Joint Programme to the representatives of the countries covered by the Programme and at agreeing upon a Memorandum of Understanding containing a Plan of Action. 
Output/Results The Joint Programme is designed to enhance reform in the penitentiary system of the beneficiary countries, including institutional development. It will improve the legal basis as well as the professional and managerial skills of the staff of the Prison Service with the purpose of bringing it into conformity with European standards and best practices. 
Conclusions/Follow Up The activities to be carried out in order to have the overall and the specific objectives of the Joint Programme achieved, will be implemented jointly by the Directorate General of Legal Affairs and the Directorate General of Human Rights 
Participants Present were representatives of the Ministries of Justice and/or Prison Administrations of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and ''the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia'' 
Consultants/Experts Seven Council of Europe's experts participated in the Conference
