Activity Synopsis (ID# 18294) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) Citizens are allowed to have their cases, notably pension rights, examined by experts of the two countries involved.
Output/Results Complainants received an answer to their complaint. Most of the cases can be solved on the spot, while other need some specific action from the complainants. In some cases, no solutions was found.
Conclusions/Follow Up For the third time, the Secretariat has organised a speaking days in the region and, again, it was a great success. More than 200 hundred persons contacted the Secretariat to introduce a complaint. At the end, and taking into account that experts had only one day and a half to examine the complaints, 119 cases were accepted.
It has to be noted that it was only advertise three times in one newspaper and still the number of complaints was considerable. This shows that there is a real problem in social security coordination in the region, at least in the practical side.

As indicated by the auditor of the EC to the Programme, this is one of the activities that should be considered for the new Joint Programme to start in 2008.

Participants There were 119 individual complaints examined by the experts. The list of complianst can be requested to the Secretariat of the Programme
