Activity Synopsis (ID# 20175) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) Main aim of the meetings that took place immediately after initiation of the Project (project was officially launched on 31 August) was to assess the current situation / needs of the beneficiaries in order to prepare the work plan that will be tailored to their real needs in the highest possible measure.
Output/Results Meetings taking place 06-07 September 2007 not only assisted in assessing the needs of the beneficiaries but also in clearly showing to them, the type and quality of the support SHE Project will provide during next two years.
It was generally agreed that:
-New SHE project should support the CAQA and NCHE in fulfilling their respective tasks so that Serbian QA system will be in line with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the EHEA.
-Capacities of CAQA to run the implementation process, taking place at the moment in Serbia re faculties, should be improved
-QA system should be closely related to the future National HE Qualification Framework
-Special focus should be on the sustainability of the QA system as a whole, so that all the HE institutions should be included in the “capacity building” process through a transversal cooperation.

Also, first series of activities were agreed upon:
-Workshops with the key purpose of developing quality standards and adequate QA process; one to take place in November 2007 and another in January 2008
-Study visits with the aim of learning from good practices; first to take place in Ireland
Conclusions/Follow Up Follow up is necessary in order to prepare and implement first series of activities (workshop on QA and study visit) agreed upon at the meetings.
Workshop should take place in November, while study visit was planned for January/ February.

Participants Beneficiaries themselves, Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assessment (CAQA) and National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), nominated their representatives for the meeting with CoE expert and Secretariat. Idea was to discuss Project activities with relevant counterparts and also the ones officially representing the two (above mentioned) institutions.
