Title 1st Quality Assurance Workshop 
Description This is the first in a series of workshops in Serbia with the purpose to develop Quality standards and procedures for external and internal Quality Assurance for Higher Education.

Target group: Members of the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (CAQA), the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and the Ministry of Education.

Activity Synopsis (ID# 20392) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) This was first in the series of capacity building workshops. Main focus was on procedures and mechanism for external and internal quality assurance. 
Output/Results CoE experts focused on the existing Standards and Guidelines including procedures in order to assess the current situation in Serbia. It was agreed that existing standards and procedure require modification aiming at higher simplicity but being equally stringent. In particular since faculties are under accreditation procedure from October onwards (until June 2009) and there are more than 130 faculties and more than 1000 programs to be accredited. Future activities were agreed upon. 
Conclusions/Follow Up CAQA and NCHE will prepare a list of questions for host organizations and agencies in order to make meetings in Ireland as useful as possible. Also, CAQA will prepare a non-paper matrix on Standards identifying potential areas for improvement.
