Activity Synopsis (ID# 20772) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) To discuss with European Commission partners the conditions of the Verona Conference on funding the cultural and natural heritage in South East Europe, presented as the ultimate stage of the IRPP/SAAH joint project.
Output/Results The state of progress of the IRPP/SAAH has been acknowledged by all European Commission partners, who are supporting the idea of the Verona Conference. Support from various Directorates General, especially from DG-ENLARG and DG-RELEX has convinced the DG-Education and Culture to co-organise the conference together with the CoE.
Conclusions/Follow Up The idea to organise the Verona Conference as part of the 4th Covenant signed with the European Commission has generated a large mobilisation of our partners and has underlined the success of the IRPP/SAAH project in progress since 2003. The achievements already acknowledged increase the role of heritage in the developement processes and demonstrate its role for the reconciliation and the co-operation between peoples in a region where tensions are still present.
