Activity Synopsis (ID# 24758) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) Round table “Gender equality in higher education” took place in Nis on 25 November 2008. This event has been organized jointly with University of Nis. It was half a day event with presentations from one CoE expert professor Lars Jalmert, professor of Education at the Stockholm University and two local experts – professor Đorić from Faculty of Philosophy and professor Žunic from the Faculty of Law. Links between gender equality and higher education were the main focus of the workshop. Participants were from the Nis academic community
Output/Results Main aim of the workshop – raising awareness of the gender equality as a cross-cutting issue in different areas and promoting it, was achieved. Round table even had a multiplier effect thanks to the topics discussed and lively discussion that forced participants to look into the gender issue/s from a different perspective, more specific ones since links between gender equality and higher education are not so obvious at the first sight.
Conclusions/Follow Up Another round table on the link/s between gender equality and higher education is planned for the 2nd quarter of 2009 but it seems that there will be a need for one additional RT.
