Activity Synopsis (ID# 24903) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) To make a detailed assessment on compliance of the Draft Law on Mutual Legal Assistance of the Republic of Serbia with relevant Conventions of Council of Europe.
Output/Results The Council of Europe experts Mrs Lorna Harris and Mrs Anna Adamiak have provided comprehensive analysis of the Draft Law, giving reference to the relevant provisions of the CoE conventions and suggesting the wording for particular articles which they considered to be more in line with requirements from the Conventions.

Mrs Lorna Harris provided also revised amended text of the entire Draft Law with changes and comments saved with ''track changes'' function.

Both experts found the Draft Law to be quite well prepared, and mainly in line with the CoE conventions. However, their comments indicated areas in which the text could be improved.

The expert opinion in English and Serbian languages was submitted to the Ministry of Justice of Serbia on 4 December 2008.
