Activity Synopsis (ID# 25008) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) -to build up the capacity of the people in charge of the modernisation of the EDC in Kosovo;
-to translate and adapt the CoE EDC Pack in languages used in the field;
-to plan implementation of EDC/HRE activities in the project.
Output/Results It has been agreed upon that even though the revision of the general curriculum framework will only be finished during 2009 (joint activity of the MEST and UNICEF) and therefore the discussion around the subject of curricula will take place only after this phase has been finalised, it makes sense already now to start the phase of elaborating modern concepts of EDC curricula that exist in Europe.

The translation of parts of the existing tools and volumes for EDC/HRE have been very carefully discussed. After intensive discussion the group decided on the following procedure.

1)The translation and adaptation starts at the same time for the EDC pack tool ‘Democratic governance of schools’ and of the EDC/HRE Volume III ‘Living in democracy’ for secondary I (see time frame bellow).

2)A first curriculum meeting will take place from 16-17 December 2008 at Villa Germina in Pristina with stakeholders (around 15) from Kosovo (curriculum developers, ministry officials, teachers, publishing houses, representatives of the NGOs and partner organizations). They shall be supported by two Council of Europe experts.
