Activity Synopsis (ID# 25604) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) Take stock of the work in progress.
Output/Results In terms of major achievements since the last Steering Board meeting, it was noted:
-established co-operation with local and international partners
-a strong base of experts identified
-publications, teaching materials and internet site of the project available/online.
Co-operation with the local and international community has been established and most of the activities run in the framework of the project are linked to complementary initiatives developed by other organisations.
A set of publications and teaching materials were adapted and translated for the purpose of the IBP project. The publications and teaching manuals were presented during the meeting; each member of the IBP Steering Board will receive a complete set of publications after the meeting. The Steering Board suggested different ways for the dissemination of the material and for strenghtening the visibility of the results : a number of copies should be sent to different organisations , to libraries and book shops, links to the IBP website published on different internet sites (MEST, ETF etc.).
Regional co-ordination was mentioned as being particularly important for the implementation of the project. Learning from other colleagues’ experiences in the region could be very helpful. The Council of Europe’s office in Belgrade should be given particular attention, especially when it comes to higher education, given that a project focused on higher education is being implemented in Serbia. Regional co-operation is also very useful at the level of translations (e.g. existing material in Serbian or Albanian can be used in Kosovo ).
An important aspect stressed during the meeting was the co-ordination between the IBP project and the ongoing projects in the region: SWAp, KOSOVET V, IDEP, TEMPUS and OSCE projects. The objectives of the projects mentioned were presented and analysed for co-ordination and synergies by the Steering Board members. Particular attention should be paid to the SWAp project, which has very complementary objectives as the IBP project.
