Activity Synopsis (ID# 25979) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) Project team with the help /assistance of Strasbourg organised project experts’ meeting on 20 February 2009 in Belgrade. Either all experts engaged at the particular project component or at least one of them participated at the meeting, apart from the component dealing with legislation due to the still unclear situation how Ministry will proceed with this issue. Aim was to have at one table everyone involved in the Project in order to sum up, after more than a year of implementation, what are their impressions / conclusions / suggestions regarding existing situation in Serbia and to have at least rough outline of the activities to be undertaken until end of the Project in terms of their feasibility and at least tentative dates. Idea of extension was also discussed.
Output/Results Experts provided summary of their conclusions regarding developments in Serbia so far and supported the need to continue with activities for at least one year and if possible even until end of 2010. Potential activities to be undertaken during extension were discussed as well. General conclusion is that situation in Serbia is far less developed than as presented in the request of the Minister Vuksanovic, when he requested (in 2006) from the CoE the Project that will support HE reforms in Serbia. As a consequence more issues than initially envisaged will have to be covered.
Conclusions/Follow Up Within two weeks draft work plan will be prepared, based on the experts’ inputs, and further discussed both with them and Serbian partners in order to prepare request for extension.
