Activity Synopsis (ID# 31922) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) To strengthening the capacities of the Directorate for Confiscated Property Management and improvement of the system for search, seizure and confiscation of proceeds from crime in Serbia
Output/Results The project has finalised the Manual on Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) in criminal matters for prosecutors, judges and police. Its final version has been drafted based on the Council of Europe expertise and inputs from local stakeholders. The Manual, as well as the trainings on this matter, shall serve the Serbian authorities to solve the existing practical and legal problems in this particular field. In connection to this the project has also supported the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia in organising the Ministerial Conference that served as a forum to discuss and improve regional and transnational cooperation in combating organised crime. CAR Project facilitated a conference’s special session on mutual legal assistance related to the asset recovery thus raising awareness of the relevant authorities of the South East Europe countries on international standards and countries commitments in this field.
