Title Study visit to Georgia for the purpose of learning the experience of implementation of the Strategy for Criminal Justice Reform. 
Description The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova has recently drawn up a Strategy for Justice Sector Reform (pending examination by the Parliament). The Council of Europe has been asked by the MoJ to provide assistance in the process of drawing up the Strategy, its Action Plan linked to a mid-term budgetary framework and for setting up a coordination mechanism.

The study visit is intended to make aware the representatives of the Moldovan MoJ and other judicial stakeholders on the process of implementation of the Georgian Strategy for Criminal Justice Reform.

Activity Synopsis (ID# 33634) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) Organisation of a study visit for staff members of the Ministry of Justice and other justice sector stakeholders from the Republic of Moldova to Tbilisi, Georgia, on 6-10 November 2011, for the purpose of learning the experience of implementation of the Strategy for Criminal Justice Reform. 
Output/Results The study visit was carried out and responded to all the expectations of the participants, especially the representatives of the MoJ.

The programme of the visit included meetings to the following Georgian institutions:
Ministry of Justice,
General Prosecutor's Office
Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance
Ministry of Internal Affairs
Public Defender’s Office
Training Centre of Justice
Corruption Council
Supreme Court of Georgia

The presentations and discussions focused on justice sector reform, including substantive measures and implementations process.
