Title Third African University on Youth and Development Cape Verde, 15-22 May 2011  
Description The Third African University on Youth and Development aimed the creation of a space for debate and reflection; affirmative youth action and the promotion of youth policies; global education and awareness raising for development; training and non-formal education; as well as intercultural and inter-regional dialogue in the context of Euro-African and Global youth co-operation. It was also a space for the follow-up of the Africa Europe Youth Summits and for coordination of the Global Youth Work.
This activity was organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, under the Joint Management Agreement between the European Commission – EuropeAid Cooperation Office and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, in partnership with the Cape Verde Federation of Youth, the Portuguese National Youth Council, the Pan-African Youth Union, the European Youth Forum and the Youth Forum of Portuguese Speaking Countries. The Cape Verdean Government, the Community of Portuguesespeaking Countries (CPLP), the Portuguese Cooperation (IPAD) and the Angolan Government support this initiative.

Main objectives of the University:
To create a political space where youth could affirm and receive recognition for their role in Euro-African co-operation, particularly in implementing the Strategic Partnership EUAfrica.
- To provide a space for raising awareness on development issues and global education, training, non-formal education and intercultural dialogue for youth leaders.
- To facilitate the process of defining and implementing youth projects within the Euro- African co-operation and Global Youth cooperation and promoting youth policies.

Programme of the University:
- Global Youth Work Training Course - a seven days course with 25 to 30 participants from all over the world were trained on different skills and knowledge areas relevant to support them in successfully managing international projects, establishing partnerships and carrying out advocacy work on behalf of their organisations. Additionally, we aimed that the participants could develop concrete actions for the furtherance of a common global youth work
agenda. The aim of this training course was also to strengthen the capacities of youth organisations and the
ICMYO network by training active volunteers in the fields of advocacy, project management and international partnership;

- ''Crossing Euro-African with Global Youth Work'': Training for Trainers on Global Education, developed by the Portuguese Youth Council in partnership with the Youth Forum of the Portuguese Speaking Countries and the Southern Youth Councils of Europe. Partners were Portugal, Angola, Spain, Cape-Verde, Italy, Guinea-Bissau,
Catalonia, Mozambique, Cyprus and Slovenia and they focused on Global Education and Cooperation, which were identified as common priorities;

- Monitoring Group on Euro-African Youth Cooperation Meeting organised by North- South Centre in the framework of the joint Management Agreement between the European Commission – EuropeAid Co-operation Office and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe. Set up in February 2009 to observe and monitor the implementation of the Africa Europe Youth Activities inscribed in the Joint Management Agreement as well as the Euro African training Activities inscribed in the partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of Youth,to act as a think tank on Euro-African youth Co-operation, and to guide the efforts on Africa Europe Youth Cooperation. It consists on representatives of the Pan African Youth Union, the European Youth Forum, the Advisory Council on Youth of the Council of Europe, the Steering Committee on Youth of the Council of Europe, the African Union Commission, and the European Commission, to this meeting a representative of ADYNE and a representative from ICMYO were also invited. This was the 4th Meeting of the Monitoring Group;

- Global Education Training Course for Cape Verdean Youth Leaders - organised by the African Diaspora Youth Network, the Cape Verdean Youth Federation with the support of the North-South Centre.This was an Introductory Training Course on Global Education aimed to develop competences regarding Global Issues and Cooperation and the articulation with youth work focusing on the reflection about their national and regional realities, youth work and Global education activities developed in these geographical areas;

The Joint Programme of the University:
Consisted in comprehensive discussions, educational visits, learning methodologies learning and non-formal education, institutional and cultural contacts, and multimedia coverage.
