Activity Synopsis (ID# 39254) (Hide Synopsis)

Objective(s) Presentation of the ENM’s court management training programme and methodology, training of trainers on the main CEPEJ tools, discussion of the training needs and the way of introducing a sustainable course on efficient court management, including the relevant CEPEJ tools, in the training programmes of the JA and NIJ.
Output/Results The Workshop attained its objectives. The leadership and trainers representing the JA and the NIJ took an active part to the discussions on the training needs and the way to develop and introduce sustainable courses on efficient court management, including references to the relevant CEPEJ tools. Mr Sami Ben Hadj Yahia, familiarised the participants with the organisation, methodology and content of the training on court management in France. His presentations pointed to the potential of this cooperation and the wealth of knowledge and experience the ENM and its experts can pass over to the Azeri and Moldovan partners.

The CEPEJ project coordinator presented the CEPEJ and its most important time management and quality tools. Three publications of CEPEJ were used: the 5th edition of the report “European Judicial Systems”, the handbook “High quality justice for all the member States of the Council of Europe” by Jean-Paul Jean and Ramin Gurbanov and the Compendium of CEPEJ tools translated by the Project in Romanian and Azeri languages.
Conclusions/Follow Up Both national judicial training institutions committed to implement training courses on judicial management, as part of the efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of justice as a public service. Implementing this objective by the end of 2016 is challenging, nevertheless. A more realistic deadline would be March 2017. A tentative calendar of next steps and activities was discussed and will be further confirmed in written form.
