Description Mr Andrian Candu, Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, has requested the opinion of the Venice Commission on a draft revision of the electoral legislation replacing the proportional system for the election of Parliament by a plurality system in one-member constituencies.

Objective(s) To assess whether draft electoral legislation is in conformity with international standards. 
Output/Results Opinion adopted at the June 2017 session of the Venice Commission. Inter alia, the change from a proportional to a mixed electoral system is not advisable. 
Conclusions/Follow Up Check whether a revised law has been adopted and whether the Venice Commission - OSCE/ODIHR recommendations have been followed
