    To raise public awareness of issues of global interdependence and solidarity in Europe and beyond and to strengthen public understanding and critical support for development co-operation.

     

     

     
    Project Purpose 1      2009/DG II/JP/2404   Strengthening global education policies in the new EU member states 105 000 
    Strenghten public understanding and critical support for development cooperation and to raise public awareness of issues of global interdependence and solidarity in Europe - particularly in the new member states of the EU. Increased number of citizens aware of those issues and showing solidarity.
    Increased number and improved quality of initiatives, partnerships and netwoks for global/development education.
    1000 multipliers / participants and organisations directly benefiting and being involved in the project.
     
    National Reports on the stakeholders meetings on the state of art of GE/DE.
    List of networks, organisations members and participants.
    List of participants of the national and regional seminars.
    ODA commitments from member states addressed to GE/DE.
     
    Engagement of the non-state actors and local authorities.
    Interest from and will of partners and key stakeholders to co-operate.
    Political commitment of member states.

    Expected Result 1.1 Recognition of global development education by policy-makers and practitioners.
    Development of a European framework/recommendation for global education and common awareness raising strategies.

    Continued political commitment and cooperation among African and European institutions.
    Expected Result 1.2 Improved coordination and implementation of national and regional awareness raising actions.
    Development of national action plans and systematic and structured cooperation/network-ing between key stakeholders.

    Reports from the national and regional seminars on global/development education.
     
    Agreement/collaboration with key stakeholders is problematic.
    Expected Result 1.3 Promotion and encouragement of global/development education practices through shared learning.
    1)Increased number of member states (all 47 MS) participating in awareness raising activities such as the Global Education Week.2)One web based compilation of good practices of civil society organisations and local and regional authorities.

    Compilation of good practices on the NSC website on global/development education in the new EU member states.
     
    Uneven partnership and capacity between key stakeholders that collaborate.
    Expected Result 1.4 Strengthened Europe-Africa youth collaboration, exchanges and capacity building of youth organisations.
    15 Europe-Africa youth exchanges and project implemented during the period.

    Report on the mapping of youth structures, youth actors and youth work in Africa.
     
    Expected Result 1.5 To provide inter-regional and global training - prioritising young people, women and marginalised/vulnerable groups.
    10 inter-regional and global training in the field of development issues.

    Number of youth leaders (participant lists) participating in the capacity building and training activities of the project.
