    Project Purpose 1      2015/DG II/JP/3225   Improving women's access to justice in 5 EaP countries 560 000 
    - Identify and support the removal of obstacles to women’s access to justice, both legal and procedural, as well as socio-economic and cultural

    - Support the development of a legal and policy framework to safeguard women’s equal access to justice
    In the five EaP countries participating in the programme, the quality and availability of information and data on women’s access to justice is improved

    Gender sensitive legislation and policies are developed.

    Legislation and policies in the five EaP countries are strengthened to support greater access to justice for women through alignments with CoE standards, such as the Istanbul Convention;
     
    Laws, regulations and specific policies adopted by states.  Sufficient human and organisational capacity of stakeholders to implement reforms.

    Political will to advance reforms toward greater access for women to justice.
     
    Expected Result 1.1 In each of the five Eastern Partnership countries, national research studies are developed, and specific legal and procedural, as well as socio-economic and cultural, obstacles to women’s access to justice are identified.
    Five studies analysing the national legal and policy frameworks in each of the five Eastern partnership countries are produced;

    National studies.
     
    Relevant expertise exists in the countries. National consultants can be identified and produce quality work
    Expected Result 1.2 Recommendations are formulated for possible further development of national standards for women’s access to justice, including in the field of data collection
    A set of recommendations for further action is formulated for each country, on the basis of the findings of the analytical studies;

    Information provided by national experts on measures taken.

    Relevant authorities, experts and other stakeholders are willing to co-operate with the project and its national consultants.
    Expected Result 1.3 The capacity of Eastern Partnership countries to design measures to ensure that the justice chain is gender-responsive and addresses the needs of the most disadvantaged women (poor, illiterate, from rural areas, minorities and disabled) is enhanced
    Training and information materials are produced and disseminated to improve the capacity of the justice system to be gender-responsive and address the needs of the most disadvantaged women;

    Professionals concerned have been trained on relevant practices.

    Information material published and made available online.
     
    National authorities are willing to co-operate with the project and advance reforms.

    National authorities and actors on the justice chain have the necessary commitments and capacity to integrate gender-responsive measures.
    Expected Result 1.4 Professionals involved at the different stages of the justice chain (judges, prosecutors, lawyers, law enforcement) have improved knowledge and skills on gender equality, women’s rights and non-discrimination
    The training materials of key stakeholders (Government officials and members of the justice system: police, prosecutors, judges, lawyers) reflect international and regional standards on women’s access to justice;

    At least 50 professionals involved at the different stages of the justice chain (judges, prosecutors, lawyers, law enforcement) and civil society advocates report improved knowledge and skills on gender equality, women’s rights and non-discrimination.

    Feedback received from regional conferences and trainings

    Follow up assessment of knowledge retained from training and its use six months after the completion of trainings
     
    Expected Result 1.5 Gender equality advocates from civil society have better access to knowledge and resources for the legal empowerment of women
    Support given, through the project, for gender equality advocates from civil society to strengthen their capacity to inform women about their rights and support them to access the justice system.

    Engagement of gender equality advocates in each country as partners in the implementation of the project (contractual agreements).

    Committed gender equality advocates exist in each country and are willing to co-operate with the project.
